Information and Referral: Intergroup operates your Calgary Central Service Office, which is a resource for all members and potential members of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Meeting Lists: A printed booklet of AA Group meetings for Calgary and Southern Alberta is available for a small fee from the Central Service Office. This directory lists the time and location of an average of 300 weekly meetings in Calgary and surrounding districts.
Archives: Intergroup is responsible for documenting, storing and preserving archival records, artifacts and memorabilia applicable to Calgary and area AA, as well as a representation of items of interest relative to AA worldwide, past and present. Newsletter: The Intergroup newsletter, “The WestWord”, is available to all groups. It can be picked up at the monthly Intergroup meeting or at Central Service Office. It contains district news, meeting changes and updates, group announcements, sobriety anniversaries, and information pertaining to current and upcoming AA events. Phone Calls: The Intergroup phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The number is (403) 777-1212. During the day it is answered by volunteers who come into the office for four-hour shifts, one day per week. When the office is closed, the phones are initially answered by a paid answering service. The calls are then relayed to volunteers who handle the calls from their homes between 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm weekdays; 9:00 am to 11:00 pm on weekends and holidays. These volunteers are members of AA groups which, through their Intergroup Representative, have volunteered for a one-week period. Between 11:00 pm and 8:30 am, a very dedicated group of individual members answer calls forwarded to them by the answering service. For more information please contact:

Literature, Books and Pamphlets: All Conference-approved literature is available at Central Service Office. Also available are sobriety chips, pins and birthday medallions, and birthday cards as well as a representative selection of items that are relevant to AA worldwide, past and present.
Intergroup Breakfast: A breakfast speaker meeting is held every Sunday morning at the Ramada Inn, 708 – 8th Ave. S.W. A buffet breakfast is available for $22.00 at 8:00 a.m., followed by the speaker meeting at 9:30 a.m. It is not necessary to have breakfast to attend the speaker meeting. Each week the meeting is hosted by a different AA group. The hosting group is volunteered by its Intergroup Representative at the monthly Intergroup meeting. Special Events Committee: The committee organizes a number of AA family social events during the year, including a Christmas Open House, a Stampede BBQ, and a summer picnic at a city park. To become a member of this committee or for more information, please contact:

Financial Support: Intergroup is supported solely by contributions from its many member groups and the individual members it serves. The sale of literature also supplies some of its income.

Intergroup General Meeting: A meeting of all Intergroup Representatives is held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm on Zoom and in person at Peter the Aleut Church (formerly St. Marks), 1802 – 33 Ave. S.W., Calgary please see service calendar for details. The views and activities of individual AA groups are made known to the membership through their Intergroup Representative. This representative also tries to keep the group informed about the activities and needs of the local intergroup. All groups are urged to send a representative or alternate to meet with your Intergroup Steering Committee. Be sure your group’s voice is heard. Intergroup direction comes from YOU, the member! Volunteers are always needed to answer phones, act as Intergroup Representatives for their groups, speak at the Intergroup Breakfast meeting, sign up to act as a 12-step contact and much, much more. Check with your Intergroup Representative or call the Central Service Office.
Your Group can participate!
Have an Intergroup Representative attend the Intergroup General Meeting each month:
- Volunteer for weekly telephone monitoring
- Host the Sunday morning Intergroup Breakfast meeting
- Contribute financial support to Intergroup
- Support special Intergroup functions through attendance and financial support

The coffee pot is always on at Central Service Office. Please come in, browse through the literature, visit with us, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Central Service Office is 100% supported by the financial contributions of local AA groups and individual members. NO OUTSIDE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE ACCEPTED (in accordance with AA Tradition)!
Making Donations:
Please include your Group Service Number with all donations. If you don’t know your Group Service Number, it can be looked up in a Canadian AA Directory, or call Central Service Office during regular business hours.
Suggested Group Contributions
The following are the “split” suggestions for group contributions after all necessary group expenses are met. An example of necessary group expenses are as follows: rent, AA literature, coffee and supplies, prudent reserve, District and/or DCM expenses.

Personal Donation Guidelines
In keeping with our Seventh Tradition, AA only accepts contributions from AA members, AA groups, or other AA entities. The General Service Conference limits individual contributions to $3,500 per year. This also applies to a one-time bequest of $5,000 in the will of a deceased AA member.
